  1. Step 1: Open Windows Update and see what is waiting

    There is one important caveat: each Windows version has a defined end-of-support date. Once a version reaches end of support, it no longer receives security patches. Moving to the next version before that date is not optional for a secure PC; feature updates are how you do it.
